MC AUTHORITY:   $599 (each one) 

1. Common  AND Contract Authority:

An individual may apply for either common carrier or contract carrier or both depending on the type of operation that will be conducted.

Order Includes: MC and US DOT numbers, BOC-3 (process agent)and  a copy of the permit or certificate on the date it is granted by the FMCSA

2. Broker Authority:

Brokers are required to possess a Motor Carrier Number (MC#) and a $10,000 surety bond (BMC-84) or trust fund (BMC-85).

Order Includes: MC number, BOC-3 (agent) and a copy of the certificate on the date it is granted by the FMCSA 

3. Freight Forwarder:

Freight forwarder means a company holding itself out to the general public (other than as an express, pipeline, rail, sleeping car, motor, or water carrier) to provide transportation of property for compensation in interstate commerce, and in the ordinary course of its business.

Order Includes: FF number, BOC-3 and a copy of the certificate on the date it is granted by the FMCSA

TIME SAVING TIP:  After you've applied for your MC Number with the FHWA be sure you organize your insurance filings and follow up with both the FHWA and your insurance agent.  Insurance filings are the most critical aspect in this business to get started.  Always ask for a copy of the filing to verify for yourself that the name and docket number matches EXACTLY.  Any discrepancy will only result in further delay.
